Audience
The course is designed for all employees and managers working in the hospitality industry in places with a serving grant, such as restaurants, bars, hotels, pubs, cafes and events. It is suitable for both new and experienced employees who want to ensure knowledge and security in the face of guests, regulations and challenging situations.

Learning
Aim of the course is to provide you with the knowledge and reassurance you need to serve alcohol responsibly, and in line with alcohol law. You will learn what rules apply to age limits, credentials, times of inebriation, intoxication and rejection, and how to handle demanding situations in a professional and safe manner.

After completing the course, you will

  • Understand the purpose of the Alcohol Act and how it protects society and public health
  • Have an overview of bestowal grant requirements, responsible roles and knowledge requirements
  • Know how to properly enforce age limits and credentials
  • Know the rules for tipping times and what applies locally where you work
  • Able to recognize signs of intoxication and act appropriately in case of rejection and adverse events
  • Have insight into the control system, sanctions in case of violations and how to protect both yourself and your business
  • Contribute to a culture of responsible and safe drinking

This course covers the theoretical and scenario-based training in alcohol law and the rules of serving. The course does not replace

  • The responsibility of the company to set its own internal procedures, instructions and internal control adapted to local conditions and municipal decisions
  • Practical training in the workplace, including training in own systems, routines for documentation and handling of real events in operation
  • Ongoing update on changes in local bestowal times, municipal requirements and internal policies

To ensure complete training, the course must be combined with company internal training, management follow-up and practical training in actual serving situation.
