
Audience
The course is designed for anyone who performs hot work such as welding, cutting, grinding, roofing, using a hot air gun or other work that presents a fire hazard. It is suitable for craftsmen, contractors, industrial workers, maintenance personnel and others working in environments with flammable materials. The course meets the requirements for the theoretical part in certification for hot works set by Finans Norway and the Norwegian Fire Protection Association, and provides the basis for the certificate normally required in the safety regulations and insurance conditions for insurance coverage to apply when performing hot works.
Learning objectives
The course provides participants with theoretical training in the safe and regulatory execution of hot works. It provides an understanding of fire risks, regulations, insurance requirements and safety regulations, as well as insight into how risks can be prevented through planning, procedures and proper conduct. The course ends with a theoretical test. After their own practical extinguishing exercise has been completed, the course participant receives a certificate that is valid for five years.

This course covers the theoretical part of the training in hot works as required for certification. The requirements for a certificate additionally require the participant to complete and pass a practical extinguishing exercise in accordance with the applicable instruction. The training does not replace the responsibility of the company to adapt routines, risk assessments and preparedness to its own working conditions, working methods and risk areas. For proper training, the course must be combined with practical extinguishing training, local procedures, necessary practice and follow-up in the enterprise.

After completing the theory course, you have 3 months to complete the approved practical extinguishing exercise, and send 1) documentation of completed practical extinguishing exercise and 2) course certificate of passing theory course to the issuer. This can done here.

The price for courses (self-study and e-learning) includes one year of access. During this period, the examination, one new exam if necessary, as well as the issuance of a certificate are included.
If you choose not to attend courses and only want to take the exam, the exam and certificate must be paid separately. The payment is made directly to the PECB.
