Audience
The course is designed for job seekers who want to strengthen the quality of their applications, from first-time applicants and recent graduates to experienced workers looking to change jobs. It is also suitable for supervisors, advisors, HR associates and others who help candidates design application and resume. The course is suitable both for individuals applying for their own positions and for professionals who want a structured method to teach good application writing.

Learning objectives
The course provides participants with a practical and step-by-step method for writing targeted, clear and compelling job applications that stand out. Participants learn to interpret job advertisements, identify key criteria, build up the application with the correct structure and language, as well as convey motivation and relevance in a credible way. Emphasis is placed on the connection between application and CV and how these can be used strategically to increase the chance of an interview.

After completing the course you will be able to

  • Explain what a job application is, how it differs from the resume and what role it has in the job search process
  • Analyze job advertisements and identify requirements, desired qualifications and key criteria to meet in the application
  • Structure an application with clear opening, relevant main body and professional closing
  • Use clear, precise and professional language that makes the application easy to read and gives a good first impression
  • Convey motivation in a concrete and credible way that shows why you are applying for this particular position
  • Connect experience, education and personal qualities to the needs of the employer using relevant examples
  • Adapt each application to the position and employer instead of using standard texts
  • Avoid common mistakes such as general wording, typos and pure repetition of resume content
  • Use a checklist to quality-ensure your application and resume before submission
  • Using the application as a starting point to prepare for a job interview
