Audience
The course is designed for electricians, installers, technical personnel, operations operators, energy fitters and others working with or near electrical installations. It is suitable for both low- and high-voltage environments in the private and public sectors, and is required for anyone who will have annual FSE training with first aid. The course is suitable for both new professionals and experienced employees who need updating on regulations, working methods and safety measures in line with FSE and NEK EN 50110-1.

Learning objectives
The course provides a thorough and practice-oriented introduction to safety when working on electrical installations. Participants learn how regulations, working methods, risk assessment, barriers, personal protective equipment and safe measurement techniques are used to mitigate risk in both low- and high-voltage environments. The course also covers life-saving first aid, power accident management and psychosocial follow-up. Through examples, case training and reflection, the course provides a solid foundation to strengthen the safety culture and meet the government requirements for annual FSE training, while emphasizing that practical exercises must be conducted locally in the business.

After completing the course you will be able to

  • Explain the FSE regulation, NEK EN 50110-1 and the relationship between requirements, roles and responsibilities
  • Understand the difference between low voltage, high voltage, strong current and weak current and what safety measures apply
  • Identify risks in electrical installations and carry out risk assessment and safe work analysis (SJA) in practice
  • Choosing the right working method for offline, close and energized work and implementing the necessary safety measures
  • Safely use barriers, personal protective equipment and measuring instruments such as multimeter, insulation tester and voltage detector
  • Perform safe measurement techniques, understand CAT levels and conduct three-step test before voltage control
  • Manage power surges, arc injuries and other injuries and provide life-saving first aid when needed
  • Take proper action in the event of accidents, including alerting, CPR, use of a heart starter and cooling burns
  • Understand the importance of psychosocial follow-up and contribute to good debrief and learning after events
  • Document training, practical exercises, routines and deviations in line with FSE requirements and the company's HSE system

Important to note

This e-learning course covers the theoretical part of the FSE training. Regulations on safety of work in and operation of electrical installations (FSE) additionally require that:

  • All businesses conduct practical exercises, such as CPR training, stress measurement and safe-job analysis (SJA) in practice.
  • The training is adapted to the company's own installations, working methods and routines, and it is clarified locally who has roles and responsibilities.
  • The company documents completed training and exercises, and follows up routines after incidents and near-accidents.

That means you'll need to combine this course with your company's in-house training, practical exercises and documentation to meet the full FSE requirement.
